Water Python (Liasis fuscus)…new artcard
I photographed this Water Python (Liasis fuscus) one night in the Atherton tablelands using a macro lens and ring flash. They are a beautiful snake and normally quite placid, however, this one did bite my friend.

text on back: This non-venomous snake is a uniform iridescent dark brown to black in colour with a yellow belly. Water pythons use heat-sensing pits situated on the lower jaw to locate their prey. Normally active at night, close to water in eucalypt woodland. They feed mainly on waterbirds and small mammals & grow to a maximum length of 3m.
