Tanz Der Elfin…old pencil drawing…Germany 1997
The pencil drawing of a mushroom below was done while I was living in Heidelberg, Germany in the year 1997. At the time I was living in a small upstairs apartment on a street called Pfaffengasse with a Romanian Painter called Ulrike Engel. It was back in the days when I would start a drawing and not stop until it was finished which was sometimes a couple of days.
The area we lived was in the middle of the medieval part of the city and was as known as little Amsterdam. I worked in a Headshop on the Unterer Strasse and did a lot of experimentation with custom built pinhole cameras, pen and ink and some disasterous attempts at oil painting. The cobblestone streets, churches and a castle overlooking the city in this mystical city on the river Neckar was a huge influence on my creative endeavours.
