Namaste Storm

Namaste is an acknowledgement of one soul by another, recognising the divine spark within each of us. The geometric pattern found in this Ammonite fossil is evident in many living things. These fossils are reminders of oceans which dried up millions of years ago. Spirals of growth often appear in nature with their unique mathematical properties: the size of the spiral increases but its shape is unaltered with each successive curve.

This aquatic herb rises out of the water, it's fragrant flowers open at dawn and close at sunset. Lotus stalks, leaves, petals, and seeds can all be eaten. Natasha's Leaf

The rings represent the seasonal timelines we find in a cross section of a tree.The leaves here depict a row of trees along a pathway as seen through a glass window. A single leaf is often the symbol of happiness so maybe an image made entirely out of a single leaf is many small bits of happiness all joined together. (tribute to Paul Klee)

San Pedro

Here is a desertscape in between worlds. The textures of the San Pedro cactus have been used as the primary colour palette and also interlocking organic puzzle pieces. San Pedro is a large psychoactive cactus which grows to around twenty feet high. There are about thirty species & most of these are found in the Andes. The usual native preparation of the cactus involves boiling slices of the stem for a number of hours and then, once cool enough the liquid is drunk which contains mescaline. San pedro has been used in Peru for over 3,ooo years.

Ammonite Life

Illuminated like creatures from the deep I have merged the amonite fossil with seakelp to create a spiralling, pulsating creature of the imagination. Suspended in a state of animation in a dark background which represents the depths of our conciousness and uncertainty of the unknown. This image shows my fascination with things of the past continuing into the present.

Fossil

“The growth of understanding follows an ascending spiral rather than a straight line.” ~Joanna Field. The amonites were abundant 175 million to 65 million years ago. Because they lived exclusively in the ocean their presence also indicates the location of prehistoric seas. Here they are depicted as interlocking overlaying fossils in a continuous wallpaper style which hints to the ocean floor.

San Pedro's Face

Salvia

Salvia Divanorum is also known as Diviners Sage and traditionally grows in the mountainous Oaxaca region of Mexico.The Mazatec Indians use it for their divinatory and healing practices.This image captures a brief moment of clarity achieved when using the plant and also shows the seperation of colour and time many people associate with it.

Desert Dweller

Lizard was inspired by many trips to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia.In this image the landscape and even the plant are made out of the lizard skull repeated and overlapped. It acknowledges the Lizard as a magical creature and guardian of the desert. The mysterious creature flying through the space has visited me many times while camping in the desert.

Leaflame

Leaflame was the first image created in this series. It represents the candle flame which burnt the house I was living in a year earlier. I moved to Melbourne shortly after. It is a reminder of impermanence and the individual beauty in small things we are often too busy to notice. Leaves can also represent the life force of nature and changing seasons.

Cancer Moon
Limited edition of 120.
Cancer is a water sign and often represented by the crab. Cancerian people are emotionally intense and deeper than they appear on the surface. Shells are often used in traditional masks, this water mask is made purely from the crabshells and spiral. It is the reflection of the moon on the waters surface which inspired this piece.

Cancerian Waters

This image describes a process I often go through when creating a piece. It started with a walk along a beach where I found these two shells in the bottom right hand corner. As I continued, the idea of combining them to form a sea-sun creature emmerged. I wanted a piece which brought attention to the tideline.
