Northern Laughing Treefrog (Litoria Rothii)
Northern Laughing Treefrog also known as Roth’s Treefrog (Litoria rothii)
I photographed the frog in this image along with three of his cousins deep in the rainforest on Black Mountain road, Kuranda, FNQ. A spectacular frog which is rather elusive and has a very distinctive call. I recently released this image as a handmade artcard. What you see is a section of a larger image i am working on (a work in progress). It may possibly be released later as a limited edition fine art print.
This frog is pale grey to dark brown on its back, with darker mottling and a white granular belly . The bases of its arms and armpits are black in colour and the backs of the thighs have black stripes or blotches over yellow patches. The upper half of the eye is bright red. The skin on the back is rough, with low warts and tubercles. The fingers are half webbed and the toes are fully webbed. The finger and toe pads are large and the frog is approx 50 mm in size. This frog lives in trees and other vegetation close to water.

more important than what I can see.”
